New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said his government is taking “every step” to expand employment and self-employment opportunities for India’s youth, as he inaugurated the 15th “Rozgar Mela” at 47 venues nationwide. Over 51,000 appointment letters were distributed to candidates selected for various central-government departments.

Modi highlighted schemes such as Skill India, Startup India and Digital India, saying they offer an “open platform” for young innovators. Citing India’s leadership in real-time digital transactions through UPI, ONDC and the Government e-Marketplace
(GeM), he credited the country’s youth for propelling advances in technology, data and innovation.
Turning to manufacturing, the Prime Minister noted the budget‐announced “Manufacturing Mission” under Make in India will create global-standard jobs and bolster MSMEs. He pointed out that Khadi and village industries have achieved a record ₹1.7 lakh-crore turnover, generating millions of rural positions.
Modi also touted a dramatic rise in inland water transport — from 18 million tonnes annually before 2014 to over 145 million tonnes this year — alongside the expansion of national waterways from five to more than 110 routes spanning nearly 5,000 km.
Looking ahead, he previewed next month’s WAVES summit in Mumbai as a debut platform for young content creators in media, gaming and entertainment. Highlighting recent UPSC results — where women claimed two of the top three ranks — he said initiatives like Self-Help Groups, Bima Sakhis and Krishi Sakhis are empowering rural women and opening fresh career pathways.
