MP: Senior BJP leaders Feel Marginalized, Take Up Matter With Central leadership
The concern over their marginalization was informed to the BJP national general secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh: Reports
BHOPAL: Several senior BJP leaders in Madhya Pradesh, some of whom are part of the Mohan Yadav cabinet, feel marginalized with their assessment of governance, political and administrative issues being ignored by the state leadership.
The concern over their marginalization was informed to the BJP national general secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh and former Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb during his maiden visit to the state after he was given the new assignment recently, a senior BJP functionary told this newspaper on Sunday, unwilling to be quoted.
Mr. Deb made a two-day visit to the state on September 30 and October one during which he interacted with senior leaders of the party separately to get feedback from them on the functioning of the state government and the party, besides attending the core committee meeting of the state party.
“Several senior BJP leaders including some members in the Mohan Yadav cabinet had expressed concern before Mr. Deb over their ‘complete marginalization’ in governance and party affairs. They complained that their experience was not given due weightage and their assessment on the political and administrative issues have been ignored, leaving them puzzled over their role in the government and the party”, the BJP leader in the know of the things said.
These leaders complained that they were being sidelined and found it awkward to present before the party workers and voters a picture on the functioning of the government, the party leader said.
Prominent leaders among those who met Mr. Deb separately included Union agriculture minister and former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, state BJP president Hemant Khandelwal, senior cabinet ministers Dr. Rajendra Shukla, Kailash Vijayvargiya and Rakesh Singh.
Veteran BJP leader and speaker of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly Narendra Singh Tomar also held a one-to-one meeting with Mr. Deb, sources said.
Sources said that Mr. Deb is scheduled to give his feedback on the functioning of the state government and the party to the Central party leadership.
