Modi Congratulates Skyroot After Vikram-1 Achieves Orbit

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated Skyroot Aerospace on the successful launch of Vikram-1, India’s first privately developed orbital rocket, describing it as a milestone in the country’s space programme.
In a post on X, Modi said, "Spoke to the team of Skyroot Aerospace and congratulated them on the successful launch of Vikram-1. This is a defining moment in India's space journey."
The Vikram-1 rocket placed multiple technology demonstration payloads and postcards, including one from the Prime Minister, into low earth orbit. The mission, named ‘Aagaman’, marks the entry of India’s private sector into the orbital launch market.
“This achievement will encourage countless youngsters to dream bigger and innovate fearlessly,” he said.
Skyroot Aerospace said, “The mission was a grand success," adding that the four-stage rocket is designed to provide rapid and on-demand launch services.
The Prime Minister said the mission reflects the growing role of the private sector in advancing innovation and expanding opportunities in the space domain.
“My best wishes to the entire Skyroot Aerospace team for a successful launch. May Vikram-1 soar high, create history and inspire a generation of innovators. I urge all Indians, especially my young friends, to follow this historic mission and join in wishing Team Skyroot success using #IndiaWithVikram1,” Modi added.
