Sriharikota (Andhra Pradesh), July 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated Skyroot Aerospace over a telephone call after its Vikram-1 rocket successfully achieved orbit, marking a historic milestone for India’s space sector.
The Hyderabad-based company confirmed that the rocket completed its final burn and injected payloads into a 450-km orbit following its launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre.
With this achievement, India has become the third country in the world to demonstrate private orbital launch capability, signalling a major leap for the country’s growing commercial space ecosystem.
The successful mission marks a new phase in India’s space journey, with private players now capable of independently reaching orbit.
