Kolkata: In a dramatic move amidst opposition parties’ chorus in New Delhi seeking resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over disenfranchisement of voters through the special intensive revision (SIR), the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, West Bengal has finally released the list of voters whose names featured in “Absentee, Shifted, Dead, Deleted” category during the SIR in the state and urged “left out eligible voters” to fill up and submit Form 6 for their enrollment in the electoral roll.

On Tuesday additional CEO Arindam Niyogi stated in a press communication, “The office of the Chief Electoral Officer, West Bengal is committed to work under the supervision and control of the Election Commission of India as per the provision of Representation of Peoples Act 1950 in connection with updation of Electoral Roll.

For left out eligible voter, the list of ASDD (Absentee, Shifted, Dead, Deleted) voters of SIR 2026 is available at the link ceowestbengal.wb.gov.in/asd sir and also at the respective links in the websites of the District Electoral Officers.

Any person in this list, may submit Form 6 online or through BLO for inclusion of his/her name in the Electoral Roll.”

He added, “Any young / first time eligible elector who reaches 18 years as on date may apply to include his/her name in the Electoral Roll by submitting Form 6 online or through BLO.

Rajya Sabha MP Sagarika Ghose, belonging to Mamata All India Trinamool Congress, took a swipe at the CEO office over the move.

She posted on X-handle, “West Bengal CEO RE-OPENS registration for voters left out in SIR exercise.

Asks them to submit Form 6. Chronology samajhiye: First, leave out LAKHS of eligible voters BEFORE the elections. Ensure @BJP4India wins elections at all costs.

Next, offer to add deleted voters AFTER the elections, (after @BJP4India has won ILLEGALLY) and after the illegal game has been exposed.

Gyanesh Kumar must be criminally charged for having carried out the most dubious act in India’s electoral history in West Bengal and now across India.”

Her jibe was however labelled as “misleading” by the CEO office. Ms Ghose however hit back immediately, wondering, “Misleading how exactly? The EC’s own 6 October note says eligible voters left out of the SIR may apply through Form 6, and its 1 October order directs a special enrolment drive.

That is PRECISELY my point. Why is this special enrollment drive happening only AFTER the election? The @ECISVEEP should answer that question, not label posts.”
