New Delhi: The BJP on Tuesday termed Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi as Pakistan's "poster boys" after the former described Operation Sindoor as a "chutput yuddh" (small battle) and the latter repeated his question of how many fighter jets India lost during the country's military offensive.

Kharge made the cutput yuddh remark while addressing the "Samarpane Sankalpa" rally in Karnataka, where he also slammed the Modi government for failing to protect the lives of 26 people killed in the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

Reacting to the Congress leader's remarks on Operation Sindoor, BJP MP Sambit Patra said, “This is cheating the country and the bravery of the armed forces…”

Slamming the Lok Sabha LoP, Patra said, “Rahul Gandhi has been asking for proof for the last two days. We have been presenting digital proof since day one. Pakistanis themselves have shown evidence. Despite this, you are asking for proof of the courage of the armed forces. This is the reason Rahul Gandhi and his leaders have become the poster boys in Pakistan...you do the work of giving oxygen to Pakistan. Today we all know why Hafiz Saeed likes Rahul Gandhi.”

Calling the LoP "the new age Mir Jafar," BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya said, “It is not surprising that Rahul Gandhi is speaking the language of Pakistan and its benefactors. He has not congratulated the Prime Minister on the flawless #OperationSindoor, which unmistakably showcases India’s dominance. Instead, he repeatedly asks how many jets we lost, a question that has already been addressed in the DGMO briefings. Curiously, he hasn’t once enquired about how many Pakistani jets were shot down during the conflict or how many were destroyed while parked in their hangars when Indian forces pounded Pakistani airbases."

The BJP IT cell head also posted a photograph of Gandhi juxtaposed with Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir on social media and asked, “What’s next for Rahul Gandhi? The Nishan-e-Pakistan?”

The ruling party’s remarks came in the wake of the LoP Gandhi’s social media post asking how many fighter aircraft India lost during India’s military offensive against Pakistan in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

Slamming the Opposition party leaders for “acting as proxy promoters of Pakistan”, senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, “These are the same individuals who question the Constitution, democracy and now even the Indian Army and the country's security. They seem to believe that gaining popularity across the border by doing this will benefit them, but in reality, they are degrading their own popularity here in India."
