IPL Cricketer Shashank Singh, Father Booked Over Cook's Assault, Confinement Allegations
Cook alleges verbal abuse, assault and wrongful confinement; Bhopal Police register FIR against Punjab Kings batter, his retired IPS officer father and family driver.
IPL cricketer Shashank Singh, his father Shailesh Singh, a retired IPS officer, and the family's driver have been booked by Bhopal Police after their cook accused them of verbal abuse, assault, and wrongful confinement.
The First Information Report (FIR) was registered at Ratibad Police Station in Bhopal on Monday based on a complaint filed by Vipendra Singh Tomar, 31, a resident of Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district.
According to the complaint, Tomar joined the Singh family's residence in Mendori village on June 25 after being hired as a cook through an acquaintance. He alleged that he was promised a monthly salary of Rs 15,000, along with free food, accommodation, and assurances of help in securing a government job in the future.
However, Tomar claimed that the work environment turned hostile within days of his joining, with frequent arguments over the quality of the food he prepared. He alleged that he was subjected to continuous verbal abuse and mental harassment.
The complainant further stated that after deciding to resign and return to his hometown due to the alleged mistreatment, the accused became angry. He has accused them of assaulting him and confining him against his will.
The family's driver, identified as Mishra, has also been named as a co-accused in the FIR. Police have seized a mobile phone as part of the investigation.
Ratibad Police have launched an investigation into the allegations. No arrests had been reported at the time of filing this report.
Shashank Singh currently plays for the Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The accused have not yet publicly responded to the allegations.
