George Reddy pre-launch at cemetery

The unit paid a flower tribute to the great student leader.

Hyderabad: The Narayanguda Christian cemetery on Thursday saw the pre-launch of the film George Reddy, better known as the Che Guevara of Osmania university.

The film is slated for release on Friday. The unit paid a flower tribute to the great student leader. He was murdered in 1972 in a student hostel at Osmania University at the age of 25. George Reddy, after graduating from the Nizam college, entered Osmania university as a research student in Physics. He was also a university gold medallist. He was exceedingly good in studies. Had he still been alive, he would have been a well-known scientist by now, it is believed.

He is remembered now primarily for his promotion of Marxist ideas and his opposition to social discrimination and inequality.

On his death anniversary a documentary was released about his life, titled Crisis on the Campus.
