Four injured in Vijayawada road accident

Vijayawada: A speeding car hit two bikes near the Executive Club junction in Vijayawada during the early hours of Sunday, injuring four people.

Rumours spread that the car was racing with other vehicles. Police, however, clarified that the accident was due to drunken driving.

They identified the accused car driver as Manohar (46) of Guru Nanak Colony. He is running a glass company near Ibrahimpatnam in NTR district. Monahar, along with his wife and daughter, visited a club near Benz Circle on Saturday night and consumed alcohol.

While driving back home, Manohar hit two bikes from behind. Md. Sameer, Sk. Ashish, Sk. Akbar and Sk. Nafeez Ahmed, all of them around 19 years, sustained injuries. They were rushed to a private hospital.

Police said the injured are from One Town area. They had been to Eat Street and were roaming on bikes when their vehicles got hit by the car.
