Gayathri Yagnam' to rein in Covid today

The Yagnam would be held on the occasion of the International Day of Living Together in Peace observed on Sunday

Vijayawada: The Brahmana Chaitanya Vedika (BCV) would conduct innovative Sahasra Gayathri Japa Yagnam on Sunday, seeking containment of pandemic Coronavirus. BCV state president Siripurapu Venkata Sridhar Sarma said with the whole world facing severe troubles due to Covid-19, they decided to conduct the Yagnam for the protection of the public from pandemic. It would be held on the occasion of the International Day of Living Together in Peace observed on Sunday.

Sarma said that the Gayathri mantra is powerful at all times and hence selected for the purpose. People facing arduous hardships for the past one year due to the pandemic hoped for the end of menace a few weeks ago when the positive cases came down but, sadly, the second wave broke out and was deadlier. He said the Beejakshara in the Gayathri mantra is powerful and it is quoted in Rig Veda and, hence, BCV chose to conduct Sahasra Gayathri Japa Yagnam.

Individual Brahmins, Archakas, Brahmin association and associated organisations would recite the mantra for 1,008 times from 9 am to 11 am at their houses on May 16, he informed.
