Hyderabad,:  The Bhadradri Thermal Power Project, producing 540 mega watts of electricity, will add another 270 mega watts towards its commercial operations in the next 10 or 12 days, it was announced here on Monday.

The Bhadradri power project, at Manuguru in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district, comprises four 270 MW generation units of which two are operational. Work on the fourth unit is progressing at a fast pace and it is expected to begin commercial operations in the first quarter of 2021-22.

The progress in this project’s works, along with that of Yadadri Thermal Power Project, were on Monday reviewed at the TSGenco office. The meeting was chaired by D. Prabhakar Rao, chairman and managing director of TS Genco and TS Transco, and Anil Kapoor, director (HR) holding additional charge of director (power) at BHEL. The progress of both the projects was reviewed in detail and Genco and BHEL officials were given directions to further expedite the projects.

BHEL is also executing the 5x800 MW Yadadri Thermal Power Project at Dameracherla, Nalgonda district, for Genco. The project is the largest thermal power project in south India and work on this project is also in full swing.

BHEL supplied sets contribute to nearly 90 per cent of the coal-based power stations installed in Telangana state, and projects equipped with BHEL-supplied sets such as the ones at Ramagundam and Kothagudem, have consistently been winning merit awards from the Union power ministry for their performance.
