Adilabad: Villagers were panicked after watching the incident of a tiger killing a calf near the agricultural fields near Sulugupalli village in Bejjur mandal of Komaram Bheem Asifabad district on Sunday.

Many farmers are not going to the fields because of tiger movement. Field-level animal tackers are also facing threat to from tigers in Kagaznagar division.

Tigers are coming close to agricultural fields in Penchikaplpet, Bejjur, Dahegam, Sirpur (T) and Kagaznagar in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district.

The tiger came out of the bushes and jumped on the cattle while they were grazing in the Peddasiddapur forest area and killed a calf.

Nagam Yashwanth, owner of the calf, said there was every possibility of tigers’ attack on people. “They are hiding in the bushes and people could not identify them due to green cover.”  

   The three cattle grazers ran to safety and informed the matter to the villagers. Villagers approached the spot, made sounds to chase away the tiger, which, in turn, attempted to attack them.

Forest range officer Dayakar of Bejjur has confirmed the incident of a tiger killing a calf. The forest staff had visited the place the next day.

Three days ago, a tiger killed Avinash, 17, on the outskirts of Pippardol village in Jhari taluk in Yavathmal district borders in Maharashtra.

Forest officials of Maharashtra caught the tiger that killed the youngster and shifted to the Amaravati tiger reserve on Monday.
