Six persons booked during attempt to dump septic waste in Thiruvananthapuram

The trucks registered at Koyilandy and Alappuzha were held while attempting to unload septic waste in the city.

Thiruvananthapuram: Amidst rising number of contagious fever cases, the corporation health officials seized two tankers with septic waste and held six miscreants for dumping them near Kazhakoottam on Wednesday night. Cases have been registered against their drivers Biju and Sreeraj. The trucks registered at Koyilandy and Alappuzha were held while attempting to unload septic waste in the city. Others were identified as Paul Pandiyan of ARA, 38; Sherif of New Opticals; Bhadran of Ambadi Textiles; Ananthu Krishnan of Jai Nagar and Shiva Gurunath of Space Centre - all Kazhakoottam residents.The night squad that held the miscreants were led by health inspector K.C. Ashok, mayor V.K. Prasanth said in a statement. Fines will be levied under relevant sections of Kerala Municipality Act 1994.

Two more die of fever
Even as officials initiated actions against causal factors of the contagious illness, two more died of fever. The deceased were identified as Omana, 66, of Kalliyoor. She was under treatment for fever for over a week. The second deceased was identified as Shekhara Panicker, 76, of Aithiyoor, Balaramapuram.

He was brought dead to Medical College Hospital by relatives, and his body was sent for autopsy to confirm the reason of death. The fatalities are apart from a dengue death reported at Malappuram. As per the daily monitoring data by the department of health services, around 245 suspected dengue cases and 71 confirmed dengue cases were reported on the day in the capital. Poonthura (10), Vizhinjam (7), Thiruvallam(6) and Karamana (6) recorded the highest number of cases.
