Mangaluru:  Sri Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji of Puthige Mutt has announced the initiation of various programmes including 'Koti Gita Lekhana Yajna' as part of his fourth of Paryaya starting from January 18, 2024 to January 17, 2026.

The seer who will ascend the revered 'Sarvajna Peetha' of Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt for the fourth term on January 18 told reporters that as part of the Koti Gita Lekhana Yajna, one crore handwritten Bhagavad Gitas to Udupi Sri Krishna within the next two years. After offering it to Udupi Sri Krishna, the handwritten books will be returned to the devotees so that they can worship it every day.

The seer has declared his two-year Paryaya term as 'Vishwa Gita Paryaya' and plans to organize various programmes centered on the Bhagavad Gita. According to the seer, the Bhagavad Gita is a life management scripture, provides solutions to emotional and professional challenges. Swamiji's ambitious plans also include organizing events such as 'Akhanda Gita Paryarana' (recital of the Gita from dawn to dusk) at the Gita Mandir in Udupi, Bhagavad Gita Maha Yajna, and the World Gita Conference in Udupi.

Marking his 50th year as Peetadhipati, the seer plans to offer a Parthasarathi Suvarna Ratha (Golden Chariot) to Udupi Sri Krishna as a token of gratitude.
He also plans to construct a 'Swagata Gopura' (arch) to the north of Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt featuring a human-sized idol of Sri Madhvacharya holding Sri Krishna.
