Thiruvananthapuram: Former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan has demanded  that the conspiracy behind the espionage case be probed in the light of KPCC president M. M. Hassan’s revelations. “The ISRO espionage case was hatched to rake up the group fights in the Congress party,"  Mr  Narayanan told reporters here on Tuesday.   Mr Hassan had told the other day that he along with Mr Oommen Chandy and other group leaders had worked  for the resignation of the then chief minister K. Karunakaran in the wake of the ISRO spy scandal in 1995.

Mr Narayanan said that a senior Congress leader had told him that the party had committed a wrong. "Chandy's silence is  deafening which shows his confession,” said Mr Narayanan who is considered as the father of cryogenics. The then LDF opposition had also taken  advantage of the ISRO case, he said and lamented that  the political parties  did not take into consideration the interest of the nation. BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan, who visited Mr Narayanan, told reporters that   a fresh probe should be held into the spy case as senior Congress leaders in the state were  involved. "The people want to know how the top scientists were made scapegoats for political gain by the Congress party,”  said Mr Kummanam.
