Rahul Gandhi to visit flood-hit areas of Kerala on August 28 and 29

Thiruvananthapuram: Congress president Rahul Gandhi will visit the flood-affected areas of the state on August 28 and 29.

Mr. Gandhi is scheduled to reach Thiruvananthapuram by 10 a.m. on Tuesday. He will go to Chengannur in helicopter and from there to Alappuzha to visit the flood affected areas and people.

KPCC president M M Hassan said that Mr. Gandhi would be attending the reception to be given to fishermen who were involved in rescue operations. Financial assistance for the 20 out of the thousand houses to be constructed by KPCC would be also distributed at the function to be held at Camelot convention centre in Alappuzha.

Mr. Hassan, opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala and former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy would be offering assistance for constructing one house each.

Mr. Gandhi would reach Kochi by around 3.30 p.m. and visit Aluva, Paravur and  Chalakkudy areas.

On Wednesday, the Congress president would flag off trucks with relief materials collected by the Ernakulam district congress committee for distribution at various relief camps. He would proceed to Kozhikode in a special flight and would visit parts of Wayanad by helicopter. He will visit the calamity-hit areas of Kottathala village from 11.30 a.m. He is scheduled to return to Kozhikode airport by 1.15 p.m. and return to Delhi.
