Telangana: Parents and CBSE schools unhappy

HYDERABAD: CBSE schools are not enthused by the proposal to advance the Class 10 and 12 examinations from March to February. The board wants more time to evaluate answer papers, and has set up two committees to study the feasibility of advancing the schedule. Principal Anjali Razdan of P. Obul Reddy School said, “If the exams are advanced, we should ideally have January to December sessions. Advancing the two board exams would slightly imbalance the system if done in isolation’’.

Dr Narsimha Reddy, Principal, Hyderabad Public School, Ramanthpur, said teachers usually complete the syllabus by December, and practical exams begin in February. If the exams are advanced, teachers will have to complete the syllabus by November. “If that happens we will have only five months to complete the syllabus from July to November. which will become very hectic,” he said.

Dr Narsimha Reddy favoured advancing the exams by a fortnight this year and another 15 days in the next academic year. Otherwise, schools would have to sacrifice Dasara and Christmas holidays to complete the syllabus, he said. Meridian School, Banjara Hills, Banjara Hills Principal Usha Reddy, said there were many changes coming in too fast. “We have to wait for the official circular. it will be nicer if these things are done before the academic session starts,” Ms Reddy said.
