Chhattisgarh: Jawan killed, another injured in Maoist IED blast

Raipur: A jawan of Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) was on Wednesday killed and another injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast triggered by Maoists in Narayanpur district under Bastar in the state, police said.

The incident took place in the Amdai iron ore mining area under Chota Dongar police station limits at around 11 am, a senior police officer in Bastar said.

A search party comprising personnel of CAF’s ninth battalion came under attack by Maoists in Amdai iron ore mining area, leading to death of a jawan and injury to another cop, police said.

The slain jawan was identified as Kamlesh Kumar, while the jawan who suffered injuries in the incident was identified as Vinoy Kumar, police said.
