CM Jagan\'s New Year gift: ₹ 250 hike in pension

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced an increase in social security pension from ₹ 2,250 to ₹ 2,500 from January 2021, coinciding with the 2022 New Year.

The CM also sought to start construction of houses under Pedalandiriki Illu Housing Scheme by January 31. He wants to provide housing loans for beneficiaries at 25 paisa interest from banks. He also went on to announce that Rythu Bharosa will be implemented in January.

Making these announcements during his Spandana video conference with district collectors and superintendents of police, the Chief Minister hoped economy will also improve with construction of houses. He directed officials to prioritise the initiative and ensure prompt clearance of bills in their entirety. He wanted construction of all houses to start compulsorily by January 31.

Jagan Mohan Reddy suggested that brick manufacturing units be set up within the housing layouts to reduce transportation charges. Cement and steel must be procured at subsidised prices in bulk.

Stressing on providing a loan of ₹ 35,000 to beneficiaries at 25 paise interest, the CM directed authorities to coordinate with bankers with regard to this issue. He asked engineering assistants in secretariats to look after the quality of house construction. Weekly meetings should be held every week from village secretariat to district level to monitor construction of houses and their timely completion.

The Chief Minister further ordered officials to sanction house sites to all eligible people within 90 days of applying. He underlined that Jagananna Smart Townships are aimed to offer dispute-free plots to middle-class people with all facilities at affordable rates.
