THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state police has started efforts to convince International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) to issue Red Notice against a Qatar based businessman who gave a contract for the murder of Radio Jockey Rajesh.

The accused identified as Sathar, the ex-husband of Rajesh’s paramour. He was caught in the middle-east country due to a travel ban. He had allegedly given a contract to a four-member hit squad who executed the RJ at Madavoor last month.

“The CBI is the nodal agency responsible to approach Interpol for the issuance of the Red Notice. The IG (Crimes) will coordinate the case with them,” a senior official said. A Red Notice is issued to seek the location and arrest of a wanted person by a judicial jurisdiction or an international tribunal with a view to his extradition. The police have already arrested two members of hit squad and few others who aided them. They also recovered the weapon used for the crime from a lake at Kollam.
