New Delhi: India’s defence exports rose to a record Rs 38,424 crore in 2025-26, marking a 62.66 per cent increase over the previous year’s Rs 23,622 crore, according to official data.

The growth represents an increase of Rs 14,802 crore year-on-year and nearly a threefold rise over the past five years, indicating expanding global demand for Indian defence products.

Defence Public Sector Undertakings accounted for 54.84 per cent of exports, contributing Rs 21,071 crore, while the private sector contributed Rs 17,353 crore, or 45.16 per cent. DPSU exports grew by 151 per cent compared to the previous year, while private sector exports rose by 14 per cent. India exported defence equipment and systems to more than 80 countries during the financial year, with the number of exporters increasing to 145 from 128.

Defence minister Rajnath Singh said the performance reflects the sector’s growing global competitiveness. “The government’s continuous endeavours towards ease of doing business and facilitation of defence exporters have paved the way for a performance-oriented and globally competitive defence industry,” the defence ministry said.

He added that India is moving towards becoming a global manufacturing hub for defence equipment under the leadership of Narendra Modi.
