Youngsters try to barge into the e-Seva centre to purchase tickets for upcoming Indian Sri Lanka T-20 cricket match, in Visakhapatnam on Thursday.

Visakhapatnam: As expected, there was an overwhelming response from cricket buffs on Thursday to purchase Rs 300 and Rs 600 denomination tickets for the T-20 international cricket match between India and Sri Lanka to be played at the ACA-VDCA stadium in Vizag on February 14.

Within a few hours of the opening of sale of ticket at 18 Mee-seva centres in the city, 5,900 tickets of Rs 600 denomination, and 2,000 tickets of Rs 300, denominations were sold out.

Joint Collector J. Nivas said that the tickets of the denominations of Rs 1,000, Rs 1,500, Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,000 are available in the Mee-seve centres from Friday morning.

There were long queues of cricket fans from the morning hours of the Thursday in front of the Mee-seva centres in the city where the tickets were sold after issuing tokens to those who came in first.

There were no major incidents as the district administration had taken all the precautionary steps for transparency in the sale of tickets.

P. Manoj Kumar and K. Aswin who got the tickets for the T-20 match after one hour of wait in the long queue said that they were disappointed a lot when the cyclone Hudhud that thrashed Vizag city left destruction at the cricket stadium.

It forced the cancellation of ODI between India and West Indies slated on October 14, 2014, and for the first ever T-20 match in Vizag between India and New Zealand was abandoned due to heavy rain on September 8, 2012.

After a long gap we will be watching existing T-20 international under floodlights on Valentine’s Day, they added.
