Kochi: Another petition has been filed in the Kerala High Court seeking a CBI probe into the Perumbavoor rape and murder case.

Petitioner Binanipuram native S.G. Davis claimed that the FIR registered in the case was not proper and that the CBI should rectify the mistake and go ahead with the probe. The High Court had earlier rejected a plea seeking a CBI probe into the case.

The victim, Jisha,  a law student,  was raped and brutally killed on April 28, 2016. Asam native Amir Ul Islam is the sole accused in the case.

The trial of the case is set to begin soon  before the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court.  The police registered the case based on the statement of P.K. Anas,  and not on the  basis of the victim's mother, the petitioner argued.

According to the petitioner, Anas's statement contradicts many other statements by witnesses. The current probe team was  trying to sabotage the case.

The petitioner sought a directive to order a CBI probe and asked the court to issue an order directing the trial court to stop the proceedings before it.
