Nellore: Roads in bird sanctuaries to get a facelift

Nellore: Revenue officials have succeeded in securing permission from principal chief conservator of forest (Wildlife), Guntur and divisional forest officer, Tirupati and Sullurpeta to give a facelift to the roads to remote villages close to Pulicat and Nelapattu bird sanctuaries located in Sullurpeta and Tada mandals of Nellore district.
District collector R. Muthyala Raju was taken aback when he inspected the roads to the villages located between Sullurpeta and Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR) in December last year.
He discussed the issue with the wildlife department as their permission is a must to lay new roads. In fact the roads were hardly motorable when the collector and engineers of Panchayat Raj inspected them along with wildlife officials.
According to the collector Rs 5.20 crore has been sanctioned for the new roads.
This initiative is going to help 6,000 people living in the remote villages including Koridi, Kollapattu, Konathuru, Levealerikatta, Damaraya, Chinna Koridi, Pernadu, Tho-takatla, Patrangam, Raganna-patteda, Patimitta and Cheruv-umitta in Sullurpeta mandal and Moola, Venadu, Mattig-unta, Alaparthi, Pallipetaku-ppam in Tada mandal.
