Telangana Aarogyasri hospitals end boycott as government promise to pay

Hyderabad: The Telangana Aarogy-asri Network Hospitals has called off their strike after the state government promised to pay Rs 50 crore on Monday and another Rs 150 crore by next week. The government had paid Rs 100 crore on Saturday.

TANHA hospitals didn’t admit Aarogyasri patients on Saturday triggering a major furore in the state.

The in-patient, emergency and out-patient services were completely stopped leading to a major upheaval in the backdrop of the December 7 Assembly elections.

TANHA had a meeting on Sunday afternoon with chief executive officer of Aarogyasri Trust P. Manicka Raj who promised that all the hospital dues would be cleared.

TANHA president Dr V. Rakesh said representatives of member hospitals from Hyderabad and the districts were present at the meeting. 

“The CEO has promised to look into the payments and address the issue immediately,” he said.

Dr Rakesh said the government had released Rs 150 crore and the pending amount will be cleared by financial year end. 

“They have promised us hence we withdrew the strike,” he said.

Meanwhile, it was stated that the Employee Health Scheme and Jou-rnalist Health Scheme will be started with immediate effect along with other services which are provided by the Aarogyasri Trust.
