Hyderabad: BJP MLA M. Raghunandan Rao has said he was receiving an increasing number of threat calls. These have been increasing ever since I took up the cause of the minor girl who was gangraped in Jubilee Hills, he said.

“I requested the then DGP M. Mahender Reddy on April 1, 2022 for increasing my security. But till now there has been no response and no action has been taken. The police are not responding despite me informing them that I am getting more and more threat calls,” he told reporters at the DGP’s office which he visited on Wednesday.

I am battling the government on the land issue in which agriculture minister S. Niranjan Reddy is involved, and on the corruption in granting a contract for the Nehru Outer Ring Road. An RTI activist, Satish, who sought information on IRB Infrastructure Developers Limited, which has been given the contract for the ORR, was murdered. The Central Bureau of Investigation is now investigating the murder,” Raghunandan Rao said.

He also said that he had filed an RTI on the number of vehicles bought by the police since June 2014 and their maintenance costs, and was told that the information was humongous and cannot be mailed in a reply. They said they will send me the copies in three or four days. My information is that since June 2014, the state police have bought more than 11,000 vehicles,” he said.
