Telangana: Former NIT students held with drugs
The task force personnel recovered five blots of LSD from them. They also seized one laptop computer and a mobile phone from them.
Warangal: Several strings from the Hyderabad drug bust case are leading to new revelations every day. In the latest, the Task Force personnel of Excise and Prohibition, raided a hostel room on the National Institute of Technology (NIT) campus and arrested two former students who were in possession of LSD (Lysergic acid Diethylamide). This is the first drug bust in Warangal city.
R. Suresh Rathore, Deputy Commissioner of the department, said acting on a tip-off, a team from Hyderabad arrested two students, Y. Ramesh and G. Dijji, in the 1K hostel of the campus. They were students of BTech of the 2000 batch, but were staying on the campus to clear their backlogs.
The task force personnel recovered five blots of LSD from them. They also seized one laptop computer and a mobile phone from them.
Mr Rathod said the accused revealed five other names during interrogation. The department is investigating, and another arrest will be made soon.
Students used darknet to buy drugs
The students were using a darknet to order drugs to their residential addresses in Dilsukhnagar, Hyderabad. They took the LSD to the campus to consume as well as sell to other students. Each blot of LSD sells for '2,000.
Mr R. Suresh Rathore, deputy commissioner, said raids on educational institutions and public places will be intensified. Awareness programmes will also be held.
