Bengaluru: Five arrested for financier's murder

The police said that Irfan, who owned an aquarium shop in Shivaji Nagar, was also a financier.

Bengaluru: Five people were arrested in connection with the murder of a 30-year-old body builder and financier in Shivaji Nagar nearly 10 days ago.

The accused – Barkat Ahmed (32), Ilyas (36), Mubarak (32), Shaikh Mohammed Sami (31) and Irfan Sharief (35), confessed to killing Syed Irfan alias Machchi Irfan on Nov. 19 over financial issue.

The police said that Irfan, who owned an aquarium shop in Shivaji Nagar, was also a financier. He was constructing a house and had given a contract to Irfan Sharief and also paid Rs 50 lakh as advance. In addition, Irfan had lent 'Rs 10 lakh to Sharief on 30% interest. When the construction did not go according to plan, Irfan asked Sharief to return money and stop the work.

When Sharief did not return the money, Irfan allegedly threatened to harm his family members.

Sharief then contacted his friend Barkat, a rowdy, and narrated the incident. Barkat along with his gang members hatched a plan to kill Irfan.

On Nov. 19 around 11.30 pm as Irfan was passing by Old Crematorium on his scooter, the accused intercepted him and attacked him with sharp weapons.

The accused then fled leaving Irfan bleeding. Irfan called up his wife and informed about the incident, following which his family rushed to the spot and shifted him to Bowring Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Barkat is a rowdy at KG Halli and Banshankari police stations and was involved in the murder of Diwan Ali. Ilyas is also a rowdy at Nelamangala police station and was involved in a murder case.
