Bengaluru: The Basavanagudi police probing the home-alone woman murder case that was reported on Saturday are yet to get any major leads in the case.
Three special police teams have been formed to crack the case.

Syeda Unnisa, 50, was found dead at her house in Mohammedan Block in Basavanagudi on Saturday evening. She was found dead in the bedroom, when her husband Afzal Ahmed returned from work around 7.30 pm.

Sources said that the postmortem revealed that the murder took place between 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm. “There was no clarity on the time of murder as her husband has left for work early in the morning. Post mortem was conducted on Sunday and the doctors who conducted autopsy informed that the incident took place between 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm. Also, it revealed that the assailant hit her head with an iron rod before stabbing on her face and neck eight times with a knife,” an official said.

Considering the brutality of the murder, police suspect that the assailant had a strong hatred towards the victim. Also, no valuables are missing from the house.

“Afzal’s family earlier lived near Maavalli and had shifted to the rented house in Mohammedan Block six years ago. Their son lives with his wife in Kolar while the daughter is settled in Tamil Nadu. Only the two were staying in the house,” the official added.

As part of the probe, the police verified the footage recorded by several security cameras in the locality, but they got not clue about the assailant. “We are analysing the mobile phone numbers that were in the locality during the time of the murder,” the police said.
