Visakhapatnam: Two Maoists surrender

Shobhan was involved in over five offences in the past few years including Mukkali Satyanarayana.

Visakhapatnam: Two Maoists, including one hardcore Maoist, have surrendered before Superintendent of Police (Visakha Rural) Rahul Dev Sharma here in Vizag on Monday citing that they were fed up with the ideology. The red-rebels who surrendered this morning were identified as Gemmeli Kishore alias Chittibabu (22) and Sindri Shobhan (37). While Kishore, who is an Area Committee Member (ACM) rank Maoist in Galikonda Area Committee of the outfit, was carrying an award of Rs 4 lakh on his head, Shobhan was carrying an award of Rs 1 lakh. Both Kishore and Shobhan were native of Koyyuru area in Vizag Agency. 

Vizag rural police Chief Rahul Dev Sharma said that while Kishore was involved in over eleven offences including killing three BSF personnel by actively involving in an ambush near Palagarevu area under Odisha Border in 2014 and involved in the exchange of fire in 2015. 

Kishore is the former gunman of Maoist Ramachandra Reddy alias Chalapathi and Kishore had participated in the plenary of the Maoist party in Abujmaad, highly Maoist-affected region in Chhattisgarh. “Motivated by the Maoist ideology, I had joined them five years ago. After being associated with them for so long, I realised that the Maoists do nothing for the welfare of the low-cadre,” says Kishore. 

Police said that Kishore underwent a surgery with cops’ support as red-rebels has ignored him. Shobhan was involved in over five offences in the past few years including Mukkali Satyanarayana.
