Bengaluru: Woman held with gold biscuits worth Rs 35 lakh at KIA

Investigations so far revealed that she was used for first time as carrier and was promised a to-and-fro tickets with some money.

A 53-year-old woman was trying to pass through security check at Kempegowda International Airport carrying 10 gold biscuits in her rectum.

BENGALURU: The Custom Air Intelligence officials on Tuesday nabbed a 53-year-old woman who was trying to pass through security check carrying 10 gold biscuits in her rectum. The officials soon nabbed her. The woman has been identified as Raheemunissa, who hails from Hyderabad. The custom officials have recovered gold biscuits weighing 1.17 kilograms, worth Rs 35 lakh, from her.

According to the officials, Raheemunissa had landed at Kempegowda International Airport from Dubai on Emirates EK 506 flight in the early hours and was planning to handover the gold to her contact in Bengaluru before heading to her home town. She had gone to Dubai on a work visa to work as domestic help few months ago, said a senior police officer.

Investigations so far revealed that she was used for first time as carrier and was promised a to-and-fro tickets with some money. An inquiry has been initiated in this connection.
