NEW DELHI: A CISF jawan chased and apprehended a man who allegedly tried to flee security screening at the Jama Masjid Metro station in Delhi on Sunday after a suspicious object was detected in his baggage.
The Central Industrial Security Force posted a 27-second CCTV video of the chase on X on Monday.
According to officials, a suspicious, dense object was detected during baggage screening. The man allegedly picked up his bag from the X-ray scanner and ran through the women's frisking enclosure.
Noticing his suspicious movements, a CISF jawan dropped the metal detector he was holding and pursued him.
The man took an escalator to escape the underground station, while the jawan used the stairs and caught him near Gate No. 1. Another CISF personnel joined the chase and helped bring him back to the station.
A subsequent search revealed an "unidentified semi-solid substance" concealed in a stitched portion of an undergarment kept in his bag.
Officials suspect the substance could be gold paste, but its identity has yet to be established.
The man, who claimed to be an NRI residing in Kuala Lumpur, was handed over to the local police for further investigation.
