Patna: Popular film and OTT actor Pankaj Tripathi's brother was injured after being allegedly attacked with an axe over a land dispute in their ancestral village in Bihar's Gopalganj district, police said on Monday.
The incident took place late on Sunday evening at Belsand village in the Madhopur police station area. "Bijendra Nath Tiwari was attacked with an axe over a land dispute in his village," ADG (Law and Order) Sudhanshu Kumar said.
Tiwari was admitted to Sadar Hospital in Gopalganj on Sunday night and later referred to a medical facility in Patna, where he is undergoing treatment, officials said, adding that his condition is now stable.
According to a statement issued by the Gopalganj SP office, neighbour Rajesh Shah was arrested in connection with the incident. Police suspect a long-standing feud may have been the reason behind the attack on Pankaj Tripathi's brother.
An FSL team inspected the crime scene. The weapon and the blood-soaked cloth worn by the accused have been recovered, and an investigation is currently underway. Meanwhile, security has been increased in the village to avoid any untoward incidents.
