University hostels in India are not known for pandering to gender equality.  Even mundane things like staying out late can be fraught with moral policing and unnecessary restrictions for female students whereas their male counterparts may not face any such inconvenience. Two female Delhi University students decided to bite the bullet and wrote an honest but hilarious letter to the hostel warden seeking permission for staying out at night which was later shared on social media.

The students, Preeti and Aditi, posted a photo of the permission letter on social media in which they mentioned that the reason they wanted to stay out late was that he wanted to “de-stress” as their dissertation presentation did not go as planned. They added that they were “stressed and disappointed” with their academic life and badly needed a break. The letter was addressed to the warden of Kaveri Hostel under Ambedkar University, Delhi (AUD).
