Kozhikode: The Lions Club of Calicut, which is maintaining the Lions Park at Kozhikode beach,  will renovate it  soon to improve its  facilities. The park’s dilapidated condition was discussed  in the corporation council meeting  on Tuesday when Payyanakkal councillor K. Najma termed it as a breeding ground for mosquitoes.   Mayor Thottahil Raveendran said that if the Lions Club was not interested to maintain it, the corporation would hand it over to other parties.

The Mayor also asked  the Town Planning Committee to visit the park and submit a report to him in one week ahead of a meeting with the club office-bearers. Lions Club of Calicut president P. Ajith Kumar said that they will start the restoration work soon.  “The Lions Park is being maintained by our club for the last five decades or so and we will continue to do so. We are planning to replace the present equipment and facilities there as part of our centennial year celebrations,” he added.
