Hyderabad: Hyderabad police commissioner C.V. Anand on Saturday recalled his journey from “khaki to khaki” at the Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet on Saturday. An alumnus of the school, the reference was to his evolution from a student — the uniform of HPS is khaki — to becoming an IPS officer.

Anand was speaking at the annual investiture ceremony of HPS Begumpet, held at its campus here. Anand, an alumnus of the 1986 batch, spoke of how the school gave him confidence and urged students to soar high.

“The beauty of the khaki uniform was that it was a great leveller. I moved from khaki (in the school) to khaki (in the IPS) and the school gave me confidence in life,” Anand said.

The investiture ceremony was presided over by the governing body members Shyam Mohan, Gusti J. Noria, Faiz Khan, Radha Reddy and members of the HPS Society.

The parade, led by flag-bearer Nishan Toli, had six riders on horseback. The parade featured the house captains and NCC cadets of the three wings of the armed forces.

Ankith Suhas Rao was designated as the head boy and Rhea Abraham as the head girl.
