The makers of Mallesham — a biopic on the life of Padma Shri Mallesham — released the film’s trailer on Wednesday. The man himself, Mallesham graced the event.

Directed by Raj R., the film features Priyadarshi Pulikonda enacting Mallesham and Jhansi in the role of Mallesham’s mother. “Raj called me one fine afternoon and said he had watched one of my speeches on Youtube and was inspired to make a film on my life. He took three years  to prepare the story, and the film has come to fruition now,” Mallesham said.

Mallesham feels fortunate to be watching his own story in a film on the big screen. “Jhansi has done immense justice to her role in the movie — to the point of making me emotional through some scenes. Raj had resolved to tell my story to the world, and here we have it in the form of a film.”

Raj R. revealed that he had initially planned to do the film with Vijay Deverakonda and Nani, but they were busy so he roped in Priyadarshi instead. And on a rather sensitive note, he added, “Mallesham, despite being a class VI dropout, went on to receive the Padma Shri award. I’d like to appeal to all students to take inspiration from the man.”
