Telugu Influencer’s Casting Couch Allegations Go Viral; Jhansi Steps In

Casting couch continues to remain one of the most debated and troubling issues in the film industry, often resurfacing through personal accounts and controversies. Tollywood, too, has faced its share of allegations over the years, and a fresh incident has now reignited the conversation.

A Telugu influencer based in New York, who goes by the Instagram handle “Piku Nemali,” recently uploaded a video detailing her alleged experience while trying to pursue acting opportunities in Tollywood. The video has gone viral, drawing widespread attention due to the seriousness of her claims.

According to her account, she connected with an assistant director through contacts and shared her portfolio. After an initial conversation where she expressed her interest and commitment to acting, she alleges that the individual later invited her to a resort in India, claiming it was to meet a prominent producer. She stated that the intent behind the invitation became clear, after which she chose to block the person immediately.

The influencer also expressed concern that such experiences discourage many talented Telugu girls from entering the film industry.

As the video gained traction across social media, Anchor and actress Jhansi responded swiftly by reaching out to the influencer. She urged her to formally file a complaint with the Telugu film industry’s Sexual Harassment Redressal Panel for further investigation. Jhansi, who is part of the women’s support and grievance committee, assured that the matter would be taken seriously.

Her prompt response has been widely appreciated online. However, it remains to be seen whether those allegedly involved will be identified publicly and whether any concrete action will follow.
