Director Bala has always come up with realistic, dark and different kinds of films. His last Tamil film Naachiyaar with Jyothika as the lead is now all set to release in Telugu as Jhansi.
Jyothika’s portrayal of a tough cop in the Tamil film received rave reviews. Kalpana Koneru subsequently bought the Telugu dubbing rights and is planning to release the film on August 3.
“Initially, the makers wanted to release the Telugu version along with the Tamil film, but Bala wanted to remake the film in Telugu with popular actress Anushka. However, it didn’t materialise, so they waited for a long time before finally releasing it in Telugu,” says a source, adding, “Bala is currently busy with his Tamil film, so the makers decided to release the dubbed version since Jyothika has a good fan following here too.”
