Will this comedian succeed?

In the past, several successful comedians from T-town have tried their luck with lead roles to no avail. But it looks like comedian Shakalaka Shankar is keen to give it a shot nevertheless. Popular for his antics on the TV show Jabardasth, Shankar will soon be seen as the protagonist in Shambho Shankara. Although the actor has taken up many comedy roles in the past, this is his first outing as the lead.

“There are many comedians like Ali, Brahmanandam and recently Sunil who’ve tried lead roles, but at the end, they’ve returned to being comic actors. Even Ali, who was successful with a few films didn’t last for long as the lead actor,” says a source.

Shankar’s film has been bankrolled by debut producer N. Sridhar and Suresh Kondeti. Speaking about the film, Suresh says, “Shankar is known for his comedy roles, but he has delivered a good performance in this film.”
