C Narayana Reddy's songs helped SP Balasubramanyam's early career
Cinare, as he was universally known, wove human relations, emotions, and social awareness into his lyrics.
Hyderabad: Dr C. Narayana Reddy’s songs helped further the early career of eminent singer S. P. Balasubramanyam. The singer-songwriter duo gave us magical songs in the films ‘Chelleli Kapuram’, ‘Sivaranjani’, ‘Thoorpu Padamara’, ‘Mattilo Manikyam’, ‘Krishnaveni’, and ‘Nippulanti Manishi’.
Cinare, as he was universally known, wove human relations, emotions, and social awareness into his lyrics. The popular Anubandham atmeeyatha antha oka bootakam from Tata Manavadu, Chaduvu rani vadivani digulu chendaku from Atma Bandhuvu, Ee nallani rallalo from Amara Silipi Jakkanna and Idena mana sampradayam from Varaka-tnam are examples of this.
2 months research for one song: Krishnam Raju, Senior actor
My association with Cinare lasted 40 years. When I produced Krishnaveni, I asked him to write the title song. It’s about the river Krishnaveni. He did research on the subject for two months before writing the song, which became a huge hit. Our association continued and he wrote many good songs for me.
He was very close to my father: Suresh Babu, Producer
The late producer D. Ramanaidu was a close friend of Dr C. Narayana Reddy. Their association began with Ramanaidu’s first film Ramudu Bheemudu. Narayana Reddy garu was very close to my father and was been associated with us from our first film. He penned many songs for us and I met Reddy garu one week back to take his permission as we wanted to use his old song in our upcoming film and he said that he would do anything for Ramanaidu.
He should be added in text books: Hari Krishna, Senior actor
My father and Narayana Reddy garu were associates for many years and were close friends. “Many people know that he is a lyric writer and literary writer, but he is also a dialogue writer. He penned dialogues for the film Ekaveera which my father NTR and Kantha Rao acted in. His life should be written about in text books as a lesson for the present generation
Four MPs’ Song
When Dr Narayana Reddy was nominated to the Rajya Sabha in 1997, U.V. Krishnam Raju, Jaya Prada and Dasari Narayana Rao were already MPs. The irrepressible poet noted that one of his famous songs, Abhinandana Mandara Maala in Tandra Paparayudu featured all of them. The song was picturised on Krishnam Raju and Jaya Prada and directed by Dasari, and written by Cinare himself. Dr Narayana Reddy appeared as a poet in the movie Thoorpu Padamara, directed by the late Dasari Narayana Rao.
