Good timing for Rajinikanth

Rajinikanth’s Kaala is all set to release this Thursday, and the timing couldn’t be better — especially in the Telugu states. There have been no good Telugu releases in the past few weeks, and theatres are looking for a big hit. If audiences like Rajinikanth’s film it could end up creating a box-office record.

“Recent Telugu films have been big duds, and there are only a few small films releasing in the days to come. This is the best time for Rajinikanth to grab good revenues,” a trade analyst says.

Kaala has been produced by the actor’s son-in-law Dhanush. He is releasing the film himself in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. “He hasn’t sold the rights to the film, but many distributors are releasing it on a revenue-sharing basis,” a source says.
