It was back in 2009 with the film Oye that renowned child actress Shamili, known for her path-breaking role in Mani Ratnam’s Anjali, made her debut as the female lead. Post that, she went on a hiatus, staying away from films before coming back recently to sign a Malayalam and Tamil film each. And now, as she’s set to make her comeback to Tollywood with Naga Shaurya’s film Amamma Gari Illu, we hear she’s been roped in to play the girl-next-door.

“She has been shooting for the film since a while now and her character is shaping up pretty well. She’s undergone a complete makeover since the days of Oye! It will be a revelation for the audience who haven’t seen her in a long while.

She has been quite excited about the role she plays in the film. She’s going to be seen in a simple avatar. What will be more striking is her character who is very believable and real,” shares a source in the know.

Directed by Sundar Surya, the film is set to release in the summer of 2018.
