Pooja Hegde charges a bomb for Valmiki
The makers of Valmiki have zeroed in on Pooja Hegde to play the female lead in the Telugu remake of the Tamil hit, Jigarthanda.
Harish Shankar’s upcoming directorial Valmiki, which happens to be the Telugu remake of the Tamil hit Jigarthanda, has been moving forward on the floors at a brisk pace. And although the makers had initially announced that they would rope in a debutant actress to play the female lead role in the movie, they seem to have changed their mind now as they have roped in Pooja Hegde instead.
While Jigarthada features Lakshmi Menon in a rather limited female lead role, the makers of its Telugu version seem to have roped in Pooja Hegde to build hype around the movie. “Valmiki is no different, and Pooja’s role in it is just as limited, so they require her to be available to shoot for 15 days only. However, the actress has certainly charged them a bomb, Rs 2 crore, for her appearance,” said a source in the know.
While Varun Tej will be seen in the lead role of a gangster in the remake, Tamil actor Atharvaa Murali will be seen playing one of the other central characters. Further, with the ace music director Devi Sri Prasad producing the music for the film, it looks like the makers are determined to put together a blockbuster — a good reason to await the outcome with bated breath.
