Telugu cinema has changed a lot, says Sukumar

Director Sukumar recently launched the trailer of Dorasani that stars Anand Deverakonda and Shivatmika.  “The trailer and the artiste’s speeches reflect their honesty,” said Sukumar, adding that many youngsters are coming up with different kinds of films today.

“Young directors are making all kinds of films and I am happy to see them. Dorasani director Mahendra has also made a few short films and was appreciated by none other than Satyajit Ray, which is a great thing in itself,” said the director, who admitted that a director’s job has become more difficult now than before. “Earlier, writers would come up with their stories and the director would visualise them. But now, the director has to write the stories, which sometimes takes as long as a year. However, I am happy that Telugu cinema has changed a lot and successful films like C/o Kancharapalem, Mental Madilo, Arjun Reddy, Pelli Choopulu and the recent Agent Atreya are being made,” said Sukumar, who appreciated writer Siddha Reddy for his work in all the films. The director also praised Madhura Sridhar for bringing the right talent to the film industry.
