Dwarakish fined Rs 52.20 lakh

Veteran filmmaker Dwarakish who has produced 50 plus movies under his prestigious home banner Dwarakish Chitra, has been convicted in a cheque bounce case, and has been ordered to pay '52.20 lakh as fine, failing which he will be further sentenced to undergo a simple imprisonment for a period of a year.

Producer KCN Chandrasekhar had approached the court five years ago, accusing Dwarakish Chitra for failing to return Rs 50 lakh taken as loan by him towards producing a film. The cheque payment made by Dwarakish Chitra in the favour of KCN Chandrasekhar had bounced, and hence a case was registered. It is learnt that Dwarakish had taken the loan to produce the film Charulatha which featured national award-winning actress Priyamani in the lead.
