Tamil TV actor Sai Prasanth commits suicide

Sai Prashanth is said to have mixed poison in his drink and consumed it on Sunday, leading to his death.

Tamil TV actor Sai Prashanth, known for his performances in films like ‘Thegidi’, ‘Vadacurry’, ‘Neram’ and ‘Mundhinam Paartheney’, committed suicide late on Sunday at his residence in Chennai.

Sai Prasanth, a VJ-turned-actor, was suspected to have consumed alcohol laced with poison on Sunday, they said, adding it was not clear why he took the extreme step. His body has been taken to Kilpauk Medical College for post-mortem.

Known for working in serials such as 'Annamalai', 'Selvi' and 'Arasi', he had also starred in a few Tamil films such as 'Neram', 'Thegidi' and 'Vadacurry'. He started off his career as a video jockey and hosted the popular show, 'Dil Dil Manadhil'.

Prashant’s close friends expressed shock over his death.
