Elton John was in the ICU

Singer was struck by a potentially deadly' bacterial infection and fell violently ill on the flight back home.

Singer Elton John was in the intensive care unit after he  was struck down by a “deadly” bacterial infection during his tour in South America, reported DailyMail.co.uk. The 70-year-old singer reportedly fell “violently ill” on a flight back to Britain and received emergency treatment in the UK. Elton is supposed to have stayed in the hospital for 12 days, two of which were spent in the intensive care unit. The singer was reportedly released home on April 22.

Elton was supposed to do a couple of shows in Las Vegas, but has now cancelled them as he has been ordered to take complete rest until he makes a full recovery. The singer’s representative said in a statement, “During a recent, successful tour of South America, Elton contracted a harmful and unusual bacterial infection. During his return flight home he became violently ill. Upon returning to the UK, Elton’s doctors admitted him to the hospital, where he underwent immediate treatment. He is expected to make a full and complete recovery.”
