The opening day box office performance of the Kannada action-drama film The Devil was reportedly impressive. Starring 'Challenging Star' Darshan Thoogudeepa as an anti-hero, the film mopped up approximately Rs 10 crore net in India on Day 1.

While the talk on the ground is mixed, Darshan's "vintage" performance and stylish entry scenes are being liked by the audience. Also featuring Rachana Rai, Mahesh Manjrekar, Achyuth Kumar, and Sharmiela Mandre, the film's political drama elements are said to be run-of-the-mill.

Written and directed by Prakash Veer, the film features Darshan as a master of disguises whose real appearance is not seen by many. Composed by B. Ajaneesh Loknath and ABBS Studios Bangalore, its cinematography is done by Sudhakarr S. Raj. Edited by Harish Komme, its dialogues are written by Kanthraj S. S. The Ram-Lakshman duo, who have also choreographed Akhanda 2's stunts, are behind the action direction for The Devil.
