Maanayata Dutt turns producer
The first thing Sanju told me when I started production is to make sure that the cast and the crew are always kept happy.
Maanayata Dutt is on the rise — she has taken charge of Sanjay Dutt Productions, and has two films in the works at the moment, including a remake of Telugu film Prasthanam.
When asked about her money-managing skills as a producer, she says that the budget of a film can depend entirely on its scale, the content, and the subject that she picks.
She adds that her husband has been advising her as well. “The first thing Sanju told me when I started production is to make sure that the cast and the crew are always kept happy. Being an actor’s wife, I know Sanju really gets grumpy when working with producers who are not great. So, I have to make sure even the spot boys and the crew are fed well and fed first. My husband said that at times actors don’t get to eat until 4 pm, so if the crew is fed first then they can keep the actors fed too. This is how our production has to work on,” she explains.
Since Sanjay and Maanayata are already working together for the production house, can we also expect them to act together soon?
Maanayata is quick to say no. “I am not going to act. I have my hands full as both, a mother and as a wife. I have a great family to look after, and now this production house is my new baby. I am very happy and content with all these roles that I am playing,” she clarifies.
