Saif Ali Khan may not really be getting into daughter Sara Ali Khan’s life and choices, which is why he was surprised recently when we the asked him about her decision to join politics later in her life.

“She is a nice person. Politics needs good people,” he had mentioned.

This year will see Saif playing dad to two other girls — Pooja Bedi’s daughter Aalia Furniturewala as well as Chunky Panday’s daughter Ananya as well. This at a time when most other actors are romancing girls young enough to play their daughters.

“I play an unconventional father in both these films. These films are not about fathers who keep a tab on their daughter’s lives. In fact, in Jawaani Jaanemann I do not even believe that I am her father; I believe in partying and think I am too young. What one has to remember that cinema is changing these days. There is nothing like a character role anymore. While it comes to me, I am not in a race to show how young I am, and hence I am comfortable doing father roles or even the role of an old man if I like a film where the role demands it,” says Saif candidly.

Saif is the father of three lovely kids – Sara, Ibrahim and the media’s favourite Taimur Ali Khan.
